Being An Energy Steward

Monday of the 5th Week of Easter
Acts 14:5-18

Luke’s narrative in Acts is turning to the Gentiles.  It is a slow and careful turn.  Just who are the ‘People of God’?  Paul and Barnabas still begin in the synagogue with mixed results.  God is not the one in the rejecting business.  Rejecting is ours.  And so is infatuation;)

I suppose this pericope is about acceptancebut understanding is severely lacking!  The scene is almost amusing as it uncovers how easily crowds get infatuated.  Like all good comedyit is funny because it is true!

So infatuated is the crowd that they want to sacrifice to Paul and Barnabas!  A crowd of 1st Century groupies? Paul knows such attention has no staying power.  “No no no.  Not me.” Paul screams!

What are the objects of my infatuation?
If I am honest it is a bit of a revolving door...
And it takes a ton of energy.

Hmmmstewardship of energy
