Friday
of the 3rd Week of Advent
I’m
thinking about Hannah and Mary today.
The
readings and the psalm (from 1 Samuel) sing.
Mary’s ‘Magnificat’ erupts from her great joy. She
reaches back in her tradition of prayer and praise, and pulls up Hannah’s song.
Hannah
and Mary erupt with joy directed to God and completely grounded in the steadfast
relationship between God and God’s people.
Maybe such eruptions keep the relationship vigorous?
My
daughter Christina, pretty much straight out of the womb, tends towards erupting in song. A simple word or phrase will set her into
full voice. And I’d say it is usually
joyful!
I
might do well to practice erupting in Joy and Praise from time to time!
Could
be the trick to keeping the spark in the me-God relationship;)
