Friday of the 7th
Week of Easter
John 21:15-19
I
love this passage.
For
some reason it is easy for me to hear Jesus speaking right straight at me.
Cindy,
do you love me?
Cindy,
do you love me?
Cindy,
do you love me?
Peter
gets distressed. I do too.
Peter
remembers all too well what happened before the cock crowed.
Me too. Over and over again;)
Jesus’
repetition makes sense in the context of my shortcomings, my tendency to get
distracted, my easy infatuations.
Repetition drills the thing home.
Parents and teachers know that all too well.
Feed
and Tend. Feed and Tend. Feed and Tend.
If
somehow these things are a significant part of my day I can say
“Yes,
Lord, you can see that I love you.”
