The Promise

The Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord

Acts 1:1-11

In both this beginning of Acts and the Gospel reading from Luke the Holy Spirit is referred to as the "promise of the Father."  
The Promise is presence
The Promise animates the life of the church
The Promise endows disciples with passion and conviction

So that we may
"be witnesses to the ends of the earth"

For my part...I wonder about the little slice of the ends of the earth that has my name on it. Then I wonder about the how. And then I remember!
The promise that is the Holy Spirit...how easily I forget!
