Simple, Humble & Pure*

Tuesday of Week 27 in Ordinary Time
Feast of St. Francis of Assisi

No doubt Francis of Assisi (1181-1226) is a most beloved Saint.  He might just be everyone's saint as he is loved across denominational boundaries.

There is something about the renunciation of wealth and privilege by one who is wealthy and privileged...especially with Francis' dramatic flair!  Is it choosing poverty as one's stance; deciding to look at life from that vantage point...deliberately, that makes Francis such an icon of humility and solidarity?

Love God
Love neighbor
Love everything God created
even wolves who terrorize
     ...and see what happens!

In 10 years 5,000 men were wearing cheap garments of brown cloth and a rope around the waist.  They wandered around the towns and villages of Europe preaching the Good News of Jesus Christ and the love of God!

10 years...just by word of mouth and witness!
