…the virgin's name was Mary

The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

…and the virgin's name was Mary

It is, at times, inconceivable (pun intended) that God chose our messy bodiliness as the way to become known to us.  We humans are more comfortable pondering God via ideas and concepts.  But, from the Christian perspective, it took flesh for the message to be encountered most "really." And, for many, it has always been a bit scandalous…it is just too particular.  Why Mary?  Why the first century?  Why the ancient near east?

Could it be as simple as Mary's YES?  Might God have been waiting since the dawn of human consciousness to have a particular someone utter such a completely free YES?  Was God longing for a YES without a qualifier: Yes…just as soon as, Yes…but, Yes, maybe let me check, Yes…if.

No wonder she gets the special title, Immaculate Conception.

Holy Mary, Mother of God
Conceive in me this day a replica of your YES
