Blood & Fruit

Feast of St Laurence, Deacon and Martyr d.258
John 12:24-26

The feast day today honors a man celebrated for 1500 years about whom virtually nothing is known.  He was executed on this day in the year 258 and there is a basilica built on the spot of his martyrdom. What lives is the memory and devotion. What lives is the witness.

The Gospel speaks of the grain of wheat that dies and produces great fruit.

Tertullian, in the 2nd century said, The blood of the Martyrs is the seed of the Church.  I want to be a seed...one that bears fruit. Not sure about the martyr part. A long way back seeking martyrdom was named as heretical. But there most likely is something or some part of me that I might be able to Martyr and by doing so provide fertilizer for the church.

What might it be?
Hmmmmm...
For some reason I'm not in a hurry...
