Blanketed

Friday of Week 28 in Ordinary Time

PSALM 32
Blessed is he whose fault is taken away,
whose sin is covered.
     I turn to you, Lord,
     in time of trouble,
and you fill me with the joy of salvation.

Some mornings I just wake up tender.  It happens when I have been going, and going and going.  It happens when I want to be mothered.  This word "covered"…it conjures a kind of "being tucked in."  It is the right word for today.  It isn't hiding.  It is God's action of tenderness toward what I see as sick or damaged.

Cover up my offenses, Lord.
You know them more clearly than I do myself.
Blanket them gently…with cashmere;)

…and fill me with the joy that such tenderness brings.
